As you know, the holiday season is upon us, and for most people, this means parties, socializing, friends and quality family time.

This is one my favorite times of the year, but it can also be very stressful if you’re not prepared.

You can recall what a typical holiday looks like…

  • There are more sweets around…at home and at work
  • There are more festive drinks including alcohol and sugar-packed Spiced Lattes
  • And although it’s a “merry” time, it can also be stressful and challenging to try to stay healthy and on track.

So to make sure you’re as prepared as possible here are 5 tips for a successful holiday season of eating with mindfulness.

5 Practical Tips for a Successful Holiday Season

 

  • Visualize Success
    Visualizing yourself at the holiday party feeling calm and relaxed and choosing live healthy foods. Will help set you up for success.
  • Nourish Your Body Beforehand
    Eat live vibrant and nourishing foods before you attend the holiday party, which will help you steer away from the unhealthy foods you might find at a holiday party.
  • Bring your own food & drink
    If you can, bring some live foods such as guacamole and veggies to dip and share with guests at the party. You can also make fun non-alcoholic drinks such as lemonade or a natural apple soda, both taste really nice!
  • Familiarize Yourself with the Options
    Look for salads, vegetables, fruits and real natural foods and try to add those to your plate first and then add animal protein to help nourish your body.
  • Pick and Choose Your Battles
    Try as much as possible to have a nice balance of healthy foods and whatever options you may have available. Try to make the best out of the situation and most important of all enjoy your time with family and friends.
